Privacy Policy

The MUBAS Alumni Association (the "Association") collects and uses your information to run the MUBAS Alumni database. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • About you: title, first and last name, maiden name (if you give one), email address and mobile number.
  • Your studies: registration number, programme, and the years you studied.
  • Your work: employment status, position, organisation or business.
  • Where you live: country and town, city or district.
  • Your feedback: your comments on your industrial experience and whether you want to receive news and announcements.
  • Your photo, if you choose to upload one.
  • How you use the site: each time you sign in (or a sign-in fails), we record the time, whether you used a phone, tablet or computer, your browser, and your IP address. We use this to understand how the site is used, such as busy times and devices, and to spot misuse. It is kept for 12 months.
  • Account details: your username and a password, which is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.

Why we use it

  • to verify that you are a MUBAS graduate and keep the alumni record accurate;
  • to let alumni find and contact one another, within the limits you set;
  • to send announcements, surveys, events and opportunities, if you have agreed to receive them;
  • to understand where graduates work and live, and how their studies prepared them, using summary statistics and reports.

Who can see your information

  • Other alumni: only once your record is verified. They always see your title, name and programme. They see your contact, work and location details only if you switch those on in your Privacy settings. You can change this at any time.
  • Association and university staff: administrators and authorised staff can see alumni records to verify them, answer queries and produce reports.
  • We do not sell your information.

Cookies

The Service uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to protect your session. It does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your record for as long as you are part of the alumni community or until you ask us to remove it.

Your choices and rights

  • View and correct your details at any time from your dashboard.
  • Choose what other alumni can see, and add or remove your photo.
  • Ask us to remove your record, or to stop sending you announcements.

Keeping your information safe

Access is restricted by account type, passwords are hashed, and uploaded photos are re-processed before they are stored. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
